Beauty Haul-a-baloo

Hi guys!

I’ve been trying all sorts of new skin care products lately so I thought it would be worthwhile doing a little review of each new product (so I can remind myself if I actually liked them)! As I’m turning 25 next month I figured it was time to revamp the same old products I used on my skin, I’ve used Clarins Cleansing Milk and Face Toner for combination/oily and it’s always been light and easy to use. Recently I’ve struggled with breakouts and I just don’t feel like those products work for me any more, having oily skin is a nightmare so the hunt is on to find something that doesn’t make me look like a shiny clown by lunchtime!!

Here are few that I’ve bought recently, along with some enviable beauty product pick ups when you ‘pop’ in Boots!

Bliss Triple Oxygen instant energising mask – £42

What it claiming to do!

Now this is fairly pricey as far as face masks go but stick with me guys! This claims to be a quick fix for dull and tired skin with the most active powerful form of Vitamin C available.

What it actually does!

I didn’t expect to like this much, it was sent to me as a free sample so I gave it a whirl! The peachy liquid is applied to the face and it really doesn’t give you much time to cover your face before it starts to oxygenate, almost like you’ve just rubbed bubbles on your skin. It was pretty uncomfortable sitting with this happening on my skin, the bubbles really tickled my skin and made me want to scratch it off! Luckily it’s only on for 5 minutes and I must say it did a pretty damn good job of making my skin glow! The end result is beautifully soft and brighten skin, if you can withstand the 5 minute urge to itch your face then its well worth the price tag!

Gatineau Collagene Expert Discovery Collection £19.95

 What it claims to do!

The discovery pack contains the new products in the Collagene Expert range, including all the products needed for a perfect daily skincare routine. The products are designed to tackle the appearance of wrinkles, smooth the skin and firmer facial features to promote a youthful complexion.

What it actually does!

Now I’ll be honest, I really didn’t need a kit to ‘firm’ my skin! I saw this on the QVC channel and was interested to try something from the Gatineau range, I found this kit on feelunigue.com as all the other starter kits were sold out. I took that as a good sign! The kit contains the Gatineau Melatogenine Refreshing Cleansing Cream 50ml, Gatineau Collagene Expert™ Ultimate Smoothing Cream 15ml, Gatineau Collagene Expert™ Smoothing Eye Concentrate 5ml,  Gatineau Collagene Expert™ Targeted Wrinkle Corrector 2ml and Gatineau Strategie Jeunesse Firming Throat Gel 15ml.

First impressions were interesting…I’m not keen on the smell of these products, they don’t have that typical ‘clean’ smell but maybe I’m just used to the Clarins smells. I used the cleansing cream first, the texture reminded me of the Clinique Rinse-Off Foaming cleanser and it really felt like this gave my skin a deep clean, even when I used it over my full face on make up! The smoothing cream is far too heavy for my oily skin, I used it once and saw a noticeable different in the way my make up looked by mid day. The star of this starter pack is defiantly the eye concentrate, I didn’t think I had any wrinkles under my eyes until I started using this. I apply this morning and night and I really can see the different, my eyes look so much brighter and the lines are plumped out!

Lord & Berry Mascare Treatment Mascara £12.50

Lord n berry

What it claims to do!

This 3 in 1 formula claims to thicken, add volume and treats your lashes, leaving them in pristine condition. It’s quick drying and won’t clump. (Bold statement for any mascara to make!)

What it actually does!

I really like this! It smells like it’s going to do something wonderful to my eyes, come on you know what I mean, like the Dior Diorshow mascara has that distinct smell. Anyway… after curling my lashes I applied one count before I did my liner and it defiantly doesn’t clump the first time around. Second coat isn’t as successful but if you take your time and only apply once, ensuring your lashes look the way you want them to the first time around then this is amazing! *Side note – don’t sneeze on your first coat!* It’s not as quick dying as it claims so if you do sneeze whilst applying, the games over! The positive side is that it does allow you a little freedom to curl unruly lashes before it ‘sets’. I’ve been wearing this for well over a month now and I’ve had no clumps, no specks landing on my cheeks throughout the day and it really does feel like my lashes are healthier. Its a big thumbs up!

Thanks for reading 🙂
